The villa is set on the south-western coast of Sicily, about 10 minutes’ drive from Selinunte, which not only claims some of the most beautiful Greek ruins in Italy but also a string of white beaches, a few small shops and a simple seaside restaurant, La PIneta, that has become a favourite with our guests. Castelvetrano, 3km/2 miles, is a larger town with more facilities generally. An excellent motorway runs between Castelvetrano and Palermo, 1 hour to the centre, a wonderful city for touring with some very unusual sights.
Along the western coast of Sicily, don’t miss the wineries of Marsala or the salt flats and windmills of Trapani, both about 1 hour. Agrigento and the Valley of the Temples lie about 100km/62 miles to the east.
